D/L PENUCHE FUDGE

Again with the Disneyland days.  This is a DELICIOUS fudge I learned while working in the Candy Palace on Main Street. Simple ... yet so, so good.

2 cups - brown sugar

3/4 cup - canned milk

1 teaspoon - vanilla

2 Tablespoons - butter 

1 cup - chopped nuts (I like pecans)

Boil sugar and milk slowly until it forms a soft ball when tested in cold water. Stir constantly to prevent curdling. Remove from heat and add vanilla and butter. Beat until creamy, and pour into greased pan.  Of course, we had small aluminum trays so we could slip the fudge into clear bags, weigh a pound, and sell it right out of the kitchen.  Now, I slice my fresh Penuche into 1" cubes, put it into waxed paper candy cups, and pack it tightly into a container.  Makes a delicious, thoughtful gift.  Enjoy!
